Apple iPhone SE Review

Apple iPhone SE Review Introduction Next to the iPhone 6s (right) This has to be one of the more peculiar reviews I've ever been tasked with. A past  iPhone 5  and  5s  user, I have long forgotten what it is to hold and work with a smartphone of such caliber. Since those two, whom Apple's new  iPhone SE  resembles thoroughly, I've only had the pleasure (and sometimes – displeasure) of using much bigger devices; like the  iPhone 6 , for example, or the  One M9 , or the  Galaxy S6 ... and you know what? I think I got perfectly used to the big screen format. Most devices above 5 inches do feel rather clunky to me, but if we draw the line at around 5", I think most handsets in the category come off as relatively easy to handle. So does the world still need a phone with a 4" screen, be it with the latest top-of-the-line tech? Have our hands permanently adjusted to working with big handsets? Does the e...

LG G5 Review

LG G5 Review Introduction What makes a great flagship smartphone? You'd think that in a multi-billion industry, the answer would vary wildly, and for a good reason—it's a gigantic market serving the needs of hundreds of millions of people annually. But it doesn't, at least not lately.  Does that mean that we're getting high-ends that are barely any better than their predecessors stuffed down our throat? No, that's probably unfair. But it's been a while since we've had one of those few and far between, but highly prized, moments where our collective jaw drops, and we just  know . We  know  that  this  is something special, new, and exciting. Something we really want to get behind.  With the G5, LG is undeniably shooting for just that. It wants to excite. It wants to entertain. It wants to change things up. And it wants to be unique. And there's a two-pronged approach to that: the G5 features a modular design, meaning you can exchange 'mo...

LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 edge

LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Introduction In the world of Android devices, Samsung and LG are the two giants that make some of the most recognizable products. The smartphone philosophies of both companies have recently undergone some huge changes: Samsung did much of the changing last year with the radically new design on the  Galaxy S6 , while LG is doing it this year with the  LG G5 . The G5 tries to bring something different to a mature market: a phone with modular design and a brand new metal look. How does it compare with the curved-screen  Galaxy S7 edge , and is that modular design something that brings meaningful change? And then, what about the new, dual-camera system on the G5 with its secondary wide-angle lens? A gimmick or genuinely useful? We compare two of the best Android phones at the moment: the 5.3” G5 with all its bells and whistles against the more familiar yet still modern, 5.5” Galaxy S7 edge. Let’s see which one c...

Huawei P9 Review

Huawei P9 Review Introduction Some say that the best camera is the one you have with you, which is one of the reasons why people now turn to their phones for snapping the occasional photo. The Huawei P9, however, doesn’t want to be just another phone with a good camera. It is here to reinvent smartphone photography with its dual-camera setup, engineered in partnership with Leica. Bold claims aside, the  Huawei P9  is the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone, and as such, it aims to impress with more than just its intriguing photographic capabilities. It has been engineered to meet the expectations of a broad range of customers, including those who demand the very best. Needless to say, high-end rivals from Apple, Samsung, and LG have set the bar high, but the P9 is shaping up as a phone that can leap over it. Let us find out if that’s the case. The box contains: Huawei P9 Wall charger (Output: 5V, 2A) USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable Wired st...

Microsoft Lumia 650 Review

Microsoft Lumia 650 Review Introduction Last November, Microsoft launched the  Lumia 950  and  950 XL  to debut Windows 10 on smartphones. With muscular spec sheets, the duo took aim at the higher-end price segment, leaving Windows 10 out of reach for budget-minded buyers. Six months later, Redmond introduced an affordable option, the Lumia 650. Featuring a slim design and markedly lean hardware, we're intrigued whether the handset is compromised in any way, punches above its weight, or simply delivers the essentials and nothing more. The answer might surprise you. Design A simple, understated Lumia phone that's a bit taller than needed. The Lumia 650 has borrowed understated, rectangular-shaped DNA strands from the design gene pool. Its unassuming looks aren't ones to fall head over heels with, but they don't irritate with any excess, annoyances, or baffling choices. It features a glass front, a metal frame, and a removable plast...

LG G5 vs Apple iPhone 6s Plus

LG G5 vs Apple iPhone 6s Plus Introduction With the  G5 , LG introduced a thorough overhaul of its high-end line, eschewing plastic construction for a metal coating, and enhanced the novelty factor with a funky modular design that lets you add various attachments to the phone with ease. Add to these an intriguing dual camera unit, and the G5 is unlike anything we've seen from the company so far in its mainstream efforts. This is why we are pitting it against Apple's large-screen effort, the  iPhone 6s Plus  with its 3D Touch display.  Design The G5 modular design intrigue is jaded by the construction gaps in comparison with the solid unibody iPhone The rounded corners of the LG G5 and iPhone 6s Plus emit a similar ergonomic vibe sitting side by side. That being said, the instantly recognizable iPhone 6s Plus is the larger of the two, so the G5 sits better in the palm and is easier to handle. Well, relatively, as both phones have pr...
